Nice list of ideas for R&D environments. The one I like best is the ‘R&D never has a service arm’. This is something I’ve seen: there never seems to be time and money to solve ‘general grievances’.

Google announces an open source OCR system. I’m curious to see who will pick this up. They are explicitly asking for community input. Cool.

Salesforce is a cool company they deliver CRM systems which are as open as they get. Their systems are webbased, and can be adapted by developers. Now they are also moving into content management systems.
